Sound West planning 123 Bremerton units

North of the Bremerton ferry dock, facing Evergreen Rotary Park and Port Washington Narrows, is a long-gestating multifamily development site at 631 Sheldon Blvd. Sound West Group acquired it about three years ago for nearly $2 million from another developer.

Rice Fergus Miller is designing the six-story, 123-unit Evergreen Pointe, with Compass Construction indicated as the builder. Sound West says that the project is fully entitled, but the latest design will have a city review on Feb. 7, in a virtual presentation.

Sound West will evidently use only one of two adjacent parcels. The larger main building site offers about 29,621 square feet, with unobstructed views of the park and saltwater passage (that leads to Dyes Inlet). Beyond that is the Manette area of Bremerton. The ferry is about a 17-minute walk south.

That area is in a federally tax-favored Opportunity Zone. Sound West says the project will include about 4,000 square feet of retail/commercial space, also facing the park. A roof deck will offer even better views.

Sheldon’s curve will give the north side of the building a sweeping crescent shape. On a sloping site, its south side on 12th Street will rise to five stories, with private entries for the ground-floor units.

Two levels of underground parking will have an unspecified number of stalls. (The old plan by Veer Architecture, with two buildings, was to have 109 structured stalls for 109 units.)
