Quil Ceda Creek Counseling

The Tulalip Tribes have recognized an urgent need to provide expanded medical and behavioral health services to area residents experiencing substance use disorder. An existing warehouse and fabrication shop presented the ideal location near their justice center and is centrally located in the county. The new clinic provides medication-assisted treatment, counseling, primary care, and short-term childcare, as well as administrative space and an outdoor staff respite courtyard.

While the building’s exterior needed a facelift, the warehouse presented a blank slate for the interiors, albeit in a less-than-ideal “L” shape. Our team designed a space plan that maximizes efficiency and provides an inviting interior atmosphere for patients to receive care. The design concept is inspired by the surrounding landscape of Snohomish County, Tulalip Bay, and Puget Sound, evident in the natural tones, printed wallcoverings, and evocative materials that are durable and cleanable. The result is an environment with an overall healing quality.
