Kitsap Regional Library Silverdale Branch

This Kitsap Regional Library project is a cumulation of nearly 10 years of effort by KRL, assisted by Rice Fergus Miller every step of the way, to replace their existing significantly undersized library in Old Town Silverdale. Silverdale, being the retail, dining, healthcare, and professional services hub of Kitsap County, previously had the highest library circulation with the second smallest floor area of the system’s nine locations.

KRL and RFM investigated multiple site options in Silverdale for new construction and conducted multiple public outreach sessions, while KRL started a Capital Campaign to raise funds. The library system partnered with Central Kitsap School District to renovate the old Central Kitsap High School 900 building for use as a shared library and administrative offices.

This new library branch is located within the campus of the new high school and middle school, making it a short walk for over 2,000 students. Thanks to renovated athletic fields, an auditorium, and a walking trail, this campus has become a destination for the entire community.
