Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue Station 51
Station 51 is the new flagship facility for Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue, replacing one of the district’s largest and most prominent stations in the heart of Silverdale—the retail hub of Kitsap County. At 19,770 square feet, the station serves as both a community anchor and a highly functional base for first responders.
The design builds on RFM’s prototype station concept, developed to provide a consistent architectural language across the district while remaining flexible to meet unique site and program needs. This coordinated approach extends to five stations across Central Kitsap, creating a recognizable and cohesive presence for the community.
Distinctive features of Station 51 include a prominent street-facing lobby, a four-door drive-through apparatus bay, an isolated-slab fitness area, and a drive-up wash bay. The facility also supports training with the ability to conduct ladder drills inside the apparatus bay or on the exterior of the building. Interior spaces balance durability with comfort—using sound-absorbing finishes to soften acoustics, integrating wayfinding through flooring, and introducing natural light deep into the building through features like the central “octagon” hallway and its Solatube skylight. Together, these design strategies create a station that is functional, resilient, and welcoming for both the community and the crews who call it home.
