Rice Fergus Miller’s Panorama Amenity Expansion Wins National AIA Design for Aging Review Award
Bremerton, WA – Rice Fergus Miller is honored to announce that Panorama Amenity Expansion in Lacey, Washington, has received the 2025 AIA Design for Aging Review Award, recognizing innovative design solutions that enhance the quality of life for aging adults within specific project constraints.
This award celebrates projects that demonstrate conscientious design approaches advancing environments for senior living. This national program highlights exemplary work that addresses physical, cognitive, and social needs through thoughtful design and planning.
Completed in Fall 2022, the Panorama Amenity Expansion literally and metaphorically elevated amenity spaces including a dining room, living room, and activities room, bringing those projects above ground from their previous sub-grade location, and infused the spaces with natural light and exterior views. Drawing inspiration from the Pacific Northwest landscape, including Mount Rainier, evergreen ridges, and local native gardens, the space now fosters stronger connections to nature and promotes well-being for assisted living residents.
“Our design team embraced the challenge of honoring Panorama’s rich heritage while reimagining its future,” said Dean Kelly, Principal and Housing Market Lead. “This award validates our commitment to creating environments that provide older adults with options that empower them to choose what suits their needs as they evolve.”
Rice Fergus Miller Associate and Architect Kirsten Dahlquist, LEED AP, accepted the award in person at the AIA Awards Gala on Thursday, June 5th, in Boston, MA. Rice Fergus Miller is honored to be included alongside industry peers who are advancing design excellence in senior living and other industries.
