Lummi Secure Withdrawal Management Stabilization Facility
The Lummi Secure Withdrawal Management Stabilization facility is a 32-bed specialized healthcare setting designed to help Tribal clients safely manage withdrawal symptoms from drugs and alcohol. This facility offers 24/7 medical supervision and support during the critical initial period of withdrawal, where clients might experience uncomfortable or even life-threatening symptoms.
The project’s design concept, Liminal Space, represents a transition between two worlds. Clients at the facility are floating in between their past and future, like a canoe floating between earth, sea, and sky. Two canoes coming alongside each other create a powerful symbol—you are no longer paddling solo; you are no longer struggling alone with addiction. The design of this facility reflects the Lummi community being alongside their loved ones, supporting mind, body, and spirit and focuses on thoughtful, authentic, and efficient spaces for healing.
