Harrison Medical Center plans to build an outpatient cancer center in Poulsbo.

To be called Harrison Poulsbo, the facility will offer care to cancer patients on the north end and on Bainbridge Island who otherwise have had to travel to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton or to Seattle to receive treatment.

The facility, with more than 50,000 square feet of space, will be near Highway 305 in the vicinity of the Poulsbo fire station, 10th Avenue and Lincoln Road, according to Tom Kruse, vice president of strategy and business development.

The medical center will enter negotiations with the city of Poulsbo to purchase more than seven acres from the city, Kruse said.

Hospital leaders considered several sites in the area; this one comes with wetlands.

The facility will feature the medical center’s third linear accelerator, used in radiation treatment. The other two are in Bremerton.

The architect is Rice Fergus Miller Architecture & Planning.

The facility may offer more services beyond cancer care, to be announced later.

More information is expected.
